Tarcisio Leme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Nitero SS's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Neves came free, but Tarcisio Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fábio Valadares got free with Tarcisio Leme in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nitero SS's Tarcisio Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Neves in the 12th minute of play. After having played for 13 minutes, Luiz Fábio Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canicura's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fábio Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Canicura's Manfredo Gerber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomé Lara in the 25th minute of play. Manoel Mazza's late challenge caught a Canicura's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manoel Mazza helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Canicura booed when Nitero SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manoel Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manoel Mazza kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Luiz Fábio Valadares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cássio Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Claudinei Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nitero SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinei Nogueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manfredo Gerber breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomé Lara to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes, Canicura's Tarcisio Santana shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tarcisio Leme came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Canicura reached it. During the 53rd minute of the match Manoel Mazza completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Manoel Mazza a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Manoel Mazza hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. A collision led to Nitero SS getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Valdomiro Moura hit a great ball. If Luiz Fábio Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinei Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Canicura's Cássio Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tarcisio Leme stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cássio Neves's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Tarcisio Leme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tarcisio Leme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. If Luiz Fábio Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frédson Koehler during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cássio Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcisio Leme having to interfere. Canicura's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
