The crowd rose to their feet as José Augusto Neto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bebeto Cerezo. That made the score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Alferez AD's Clóvis Moreno got a free kick in the 12th minute. With his leg Bebeto Cerezo managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Are's Sandro do Valle fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 32 minutes, Waldir Brodel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Are's supporters crossed their fingers, but Waldir Brodel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dário Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Reis having to interfere. After having played for 37 minutes, José Augusto Neto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. With a little luck, Alferez AD's Bebeto Cerezo got control of the ball when Sandro do Valle tried to sneak it across the goal line. 42 minutes into the game, one of Alferez AD:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Augusto Neto to make the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Are was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hílton Dante to maneuver through the defense. José Augusto Neto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Bebeto Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dário Matorin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 70 minutes of play, Alferez AD's Dário Matorin made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ian Reis was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 73rd minute, Hílton Dante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Are's Hílton Dante got a free kick in the 77th minute. If Sandro do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clóvis Moreno kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After 90 played minutes Alferez AD got a freekick which was hit by Dário Matorin. If Dário Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dário Matorin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 95thth minute tested the skills of Ian Reis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alferez AD's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
