Henrique Severo lost his temper 5 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 4th minute of the game. One of Rio Preto F. C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ouro AD:s goal. After some careless play in the Rio Preto F. C. defense, Cícero Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luís Paulo Leme. The Rio Preto F. C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Paulo Leme should have stopped the shot. Rio Preto F. C.'s Luís Paulo Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renan Marquez in the 12th minute of play. Patrick Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdemar Cunha having to interfere. Luís Paulo Leme made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Enrique Silva sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nico Rodrigues in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Valdemar Cunha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Nico Rodrigues's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valdemar Cunha was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Valdemar Cunha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nico Rodrigues's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Hamílton Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdemar Cunha having to interfere. Sílvio Luiz Bueno hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 2-0 became the score in the 30th minute when Renan Marquez elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 34 minutes, Júnior Teles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rio Preto F. C. and the Ouro AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 34 played minutes Rio Preto F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Júnior Teles. Nico Rodrigues took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdemar Cunha. Valdemar Cunha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nico Rodrigues to strike the kick off in the second half. When Nico Rodrigues came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Rio Preto F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nico Rodrigues couldn't finish the play. 54 minutes into the match, Rio Preto F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Horácio Nogueira came free, but Luís Paulo Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. André Luís dos Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nico Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 59 played minutes Ouro AD got a freekick which was hit by Enrique Silva. Nico Rodrigues blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdemar Cunha having to make a save. In the 65th play minute André Luís dos Santos came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Valdemar Cunha. 3-2. 69 minutes into the match, Rio Preto F. C.'s Nico Rodrigues sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Valdemar Cunha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hamílton Abreu hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Nico Rodrigues who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 77thth minute tested the skills of Valdemar Cunha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Valdemar Cunha stood somewhat misplaced when Nico Rodrigues came free in front of goal and shot 3-3 to the left of him in the 84 minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Enrique Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ouro AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Enrique Silva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Paulo Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Renan Marquez hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute, Nico Rodrigues made a precise shot to the right of Valdemar Cunha. Ouro AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-5. The Rio Preto F. C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rio Preto F. C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
