The referee showed Zé Paranaense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Roger Valadares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nando Linares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Juvenal Pinheiro made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Palotina's Zé Paranaense got a free kick in the 16th minute. Jonas Bittencourt hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Palotina's Roger Valadares got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roger Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Sydney Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Freire in the 44th minute of play forced Tupe FC's goalkeeper Sydney Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sydney Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Maria Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Maria Freire stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sandro Albuquerque during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palotina would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
