Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valério Leão in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hermínio Paes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hermínio Paes came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Pegado SC's Afonsinho Vergílio. But to his dismay, Afonsinho Vergílio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Pegado SC's Frédson Trigo got a free kick in the 25th minute. It was Ulisses Marques who took care of the corner kick. Ulisses Marques made a great header on Pegado SC's corner, it was just that Marabitana AD's Hermínio Paes managed to reach the ball for a save. Hélio Sena made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Ronaldão Queiroz sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Pegado SC's Nilton Medeiros got a free kick in the 42nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Afonsinho Vergílio in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hermínio Paes saved Marabitana AD from getting behind. In the 49th minute the ball was on its way in behind Marabitana AD's goalkeeper Hermínio Paes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

Marabitana AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pegado SC the free kick. The supporters of Pegado SC booed when Marabitana AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Viana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Viana got his second yellow card in the match during the 68th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a defensive mix-up in Marabitana AD's zone, Valério Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermínio Paes came out of the goal and Valério Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Marabitana AD's Hermínio Paes got control of the ball when Valério Leão tried to sneak it across the goal line. Valério Leão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Hermínio Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Pegado SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Pegado SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
