Cristóvão Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrado Cordeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vivaldo Travassos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Roberto Velasco came out and tried to block the shot, but Vivaldo Travassos slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 19th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Hamílton Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marcos Freire III's supporters rose to their feet, but Hamílton Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roberto Velasco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristóvão Arantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anísio Vianna in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute Aílton Barbosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Arantes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roberto Velasco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton Coelho in the 29th minute of play. A collision led to Marcos Freire III getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Luizão Andrade hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute of the match Válter Barbosa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cristóvão Arantes skillfully saved the ball. Vinícius Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Umararituba's Roberto Velasco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hamílton Coelho in the 37th minute of play. When Nildo Nunes came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Marcos Freire III fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nildo Nunes couldn't finish the play. Hamílton Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristóvão Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anísio Vianna, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Roberto Velasco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hamílton Coelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anísio Vianna was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Hamílton Coelho made a precise shot to the right of Roberto Velasco. Umararituba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. After a rather tough play, Marcos Freire III's Serafim Guimarães got a free kick in the 55th minute. The supporters of Umararituba booed when Marcos Freire III was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafim Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roberto Velasco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hamílton Coelho went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Hamílton Coelho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roberto Velasco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Umararituba's goal looked a bit too open when Hamílton Coelho came free, but Roberto Velasco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute, Vivaldo Travassos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nildo Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hamílton Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Roberto Velasco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luizão Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Velasco having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hamílton Coelho in the 90th minute of play forced Umararituba's goalkeeper Roberto Velasco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Umararituba's Roberto Velasco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hamílton Coelho in the 91st minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Marcos Freire III had played much better football throughout.
