After a rather tough play, Aiuruoca's João Vítor Tasso got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Claudinho Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Serginho Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tião Madureira during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 12 played minutes Aiuruoca got a freekick which was hit by Eliézer Gerber. Marcel da Mata took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Serginho Lira. Aiuruoca's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Aiuruoca booed when Coquiero FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Coquiero FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Moisés de Souza hit a great ball. When Marcel da Mata fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coquiero FC's protests and gave Marcel da Mata a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute, Marcel da Mata hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute, João Vítor Tasso fired a really elegant long shot, but Jorginho Breckenfeld threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Jorginho Breckenfeld was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and Zé Paulo da Mata capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zé Paulo da Mata really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Tião Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st match minute, Coquiero FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moisés de Souza to maneuver through the defense. Jorginho Breckenfeld didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. Magno Diniz scored 2-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serginho Lira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Paulo da Mata made a kick off. Claudinho Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serginho Lira having to interfere. Armandinho Moraes hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. When Magno Diniz fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coquiero FC's protests and gave Magno Diniz a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, João Vítor Tasso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aiuruoca's supporters rose to their feet, but João Vítor Tasso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorginho Breckenfeld breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Serginho Lira came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Coquiero FC's Magno Diniz. But to his dismay, Magno Diniz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Guga Britto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Serginho Lira made a huge save. In the 92nd match minute, Aiuruoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tião Madureira to maneuver through the defense. When Coquiero FC's Guga Britto in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Aiuruoca's goalie prevented a goal. Claudinho Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serginho Lira having to interfere. The Coquiero FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Coquiero FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
