Fábio Eger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fábio Eger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Álvaro Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mervesta SC's goalkeeper Álvaro Paes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 23rd minute A.S.São Caetano were awarded a corner. Fábio Eger went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Váldson Pereira almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Mervesta SC's Álvaro Paes did a great save. After having played for 30 minutes, Fábio Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.S.São Caetano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fábio Eger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Álvaro Paes made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Fábio Eger sent off a good shot on target. A.S.São Caetano's Carlos Barral got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 58 played minutes Mervesta SC got a freekick which was hit by Mané Lara. A.S.São Caetano's Dráuzio Costa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Paulinho Meireles in the 62 minute of the game. Jerônimo Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A.S.São Caetano's Mané Nóbrega proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save A.S.São Caetano from getting a goal against them. Cléber Campidelis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Mané Nóbrega made a huge save. 69 minutes into the match, Fábio Eger notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Mervesta SC's Álvaro Paes. Álvaro Paes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 72 minutes into the game, Fábio Eger cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. A.S.São Caetano had played much better football throughout.
