In the 9th minute Cássio Faustino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerônimo Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Flamengoooo booed when Fortinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedé Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Bogdan Chiru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Flamengoooo's Cafu Quaresma got a free kick in the 15th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Flamengoooo's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Ceresso came free, but Jerônimo Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Fortinho's Hélio Leal got a free kick in the 20th minute. 21 minutes into the game, Flamengoooo's Bogdan Chiru nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flamengoooo's Jerônimo Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Faustino in the 30th minute of play. Cássio Faustino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute, Fortinho's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bogdan Chiru fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 46th minute, Cafu Quaresma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bogdan Chiru made a kick off. Anselmo Ceresso struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Jerônimo Jacinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortinho. When Fortinho's Cássio Faustino in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Nelson Brodel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the match, Flamengoooo's goalkeeper Jerônimo Jacinto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anselmo Ceresso. Gilmar Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. After 87 played minutes, Fortinho's Jardel Bueno shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jerônimo Jacinto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fortinho reached it. Bogdan Chiru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Fernando Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Fortinho getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Anselmo Ceresso hit a great ball. The supporters of Fortinho booed when Flamengoooo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Quaresma didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Flamengoooo could leave the field as winners, despite Fortinho having more of the ball for most of the match.
