In the 7th minute Charles Tepedino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jano Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Edu Pitta notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of So Canela's Jano Gonçalves. Jano Gonçalves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Girau's goalkeeper Samuca Cordeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rodrigo Souto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuca Cordeiro having to interfere. Girau's Samuca Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tião Gaúcho in the 23rd minute of play. Ciro Mangueira hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Tião Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jano Gonçalves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Charles Tepedino went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. So Canela's Tião Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Girau's Afonso Magalhães got a free kick in the 38th minute. After 39 played minutes, So Canela's Otávio Vides shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Samuca Cordeiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in So Canela reached it. Charles Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charles Tepedino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Girau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Neiva to maneuver through the defense. After 55 played minutes Girau got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Luiz Madureira. Edu Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Gonçalves having to interfere. Charles Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Edu Pitta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Girau's supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Pitta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jano Gonçalves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Girau's William Neiva got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edu Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Gonçalves having to interfere. Tião Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Samuca Cordeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tião Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Edu Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice moves Edu Pitta could shoot a difficult shot in the 75th minute, which Jano Gonçalves however easily saved by the left post. Rodrigo Souto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Samuca Cordeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 86 minutes, Tião Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. So Canela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tião Gaúcho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodrigo Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Samuca Cordeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Souto, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Edu Pitta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Jano Gonçalves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the match, So Canela's Rodrigo Souto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Samuca Cordeiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 97 minutes into the game, So Canela's Tião Gaúcho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samuca Cordeiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Girau's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
