Sandrinho Palmeira kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Haroldo da Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilton Peres hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Ulisses de Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mané da Silveira in the 17th minute. If Mané da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mané da Silveira got free with Ulisses de Azevedo in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugênio Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oséas Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Jiquiri FC's goal looked a bit too open when Haroldo da Fonseca came free, but Ulisses de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Haroldo da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Ulisses de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Jiquiri FC booed when Vargem EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Roberto Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oséas Carvalho was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Vargem EC's goal looked a bit too open when Oséas Carvalho came free, but Eugênio Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Nildo Sá fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vargem EC's protests and gave Nildo Sá a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vargem EC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Nildo Sá hit a great ball. Mané da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulisses de Azevedo having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Oséas Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eugênio Lira was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Mané da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulisses de Azevedo having to interfere. Anderson Madureira kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Augusto Rezende helped the player get up and apologised. After 89th play minutes Mané da Silveira shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Ulisses de Azevedo and just under the crossbar into goal. The referee gave Jiquiri FC a penalty, 94 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Rubens Gerber, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Vargem EC's Eugênio Lira. 1-1. Vargem EC's Mané da Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
