Klipton's Arlindo Schmidt got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. INTER's Dário Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Ramalho in the 11th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Carlinhos Luz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dário Cosme was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 19th minute Anselmo Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro de Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Klipton's Mauro de Toledo got control of the ball when Váldson de Andrade tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carlinhos Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anselmo Pereira was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 32nd minute. INTER's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlinhos Luz in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dário Cosme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36th minute, Anderson Pernambucano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dário Cosme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlinhos Luz, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After 48 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for INTER! The referee gave Klipton a penalty, 50 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Dalmo Paranaense, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of INTER's Dário Cosme. 0-2. After the first half Klipton were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arlindo Schmidt to make the kick off. Anselmo Pereira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mauro de Toledo having to make a save. Váldson de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Mauro de Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlinhos Luz was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 67th minute. After 94 played minutes Klipton got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Ramalho. Carlinhos Luz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Klipton's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
