Aílton Toscano's late challenge caught a Neurônios EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aílton Toscano helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Neurônios EC booed when fc porto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aílton Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claudinho Tavares was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 23rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 28 played minutes Neurônios EC got a freekick which was hit by Baltazar Araújo. After having played for 33 minutes, Eduardo Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Neurônios EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Negri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Coelho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Téo Abraão made a huge save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cauan Pimenta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, fc porto's Tiaguinho Tepedino got a free kick in the 51st minute. 54 minutes into the match, fc porto's goalkeeper Elder Amaral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sebastião Arósio. Cauan Pimenta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elder Amaral having to interfere. If Cauan Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Téo Abraão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Coelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Neurônios EC played a much better game than fc porto and deserved their victory. The fc porto players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
