The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. José Pedro Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arthur Motta in the 8th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Arthur Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mirary's supporters rose to their feet, but Arthur Motta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Pedro Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. José Pedro Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aírton Bueno in the 15th minute of play. The supporters of Mirary booed when EspartaFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yan Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute, Arthur Motta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mirary fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 24th minute Aníbal Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Pedro Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enrique Campidelis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EspartaFC. Enrique Campidelis was a little too slow when Rubens Paraibano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 1-2. When Aníbal Cunha came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Mirary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aníbal Cunha couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute, Arthur Motta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Pedro Soares was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rubens Paraibano was the one to do the kick off. Arthur Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Pedro Soares having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Aníbal Cunha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Pedro Soares was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. The referee gave Mirary a penalty, 84 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nestor Pena, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of EspartaFC's José Pedro Soares. 2-4. The supporters of EspartaFC booed when Mirary was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arthur Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aníbal Cunha in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Pedro Soares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arthur Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rubens Paraibano got his second yellow card in the match during the 99th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 99th minute, Rubens Paraibano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
