After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Jerônimo Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imperio Alviverde's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerônimo Sarmento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Tiago Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Jacinto Batista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Walmyr Almeida recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Donatello Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedito Santos in the 57th minute of play. The supporters of Tiago Futebol Clube booed when Imperio Alviverde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertinho Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st minute, Edinho Machado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Walmyr Almeida's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacinto Batista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Albertinho Negri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
