Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Reginaldo Esteves kicked off to start the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reginaldo Esteves in the 3rd minute of play forced Itahy's goalkeeper Enrique Fantini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kléberson Xavier made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Erik Saldanha sent off a good shot on target. 16 minutes into the match, Itahy's goal looked a bit too open when Eriberto Zonta came free, but Enrique Fantini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reginaldo Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Pedro Paraense came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Mate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Paraense couldn't finish the play. If Dida Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dida Fernandes struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Kléberson Xavier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itahy. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dida Fernandes made a kick off. Erik Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléberson Xavier having to interfere. Itahy's Enrique Fantini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Itahy from getting a goal against them. 76 minutes into the match, Itahy's Dida Fernandes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kléberson Xavier narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Itahy's zone, Pedro Paraense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrique Fantini came out of the goal and Pedro Paraense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reginaldo Esteves in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique Fantini prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itahy's goalkeeper Enrique Fantini, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dida Fernandes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Mate supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mate would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
