Waldemar Mottas short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Wilian Loyola to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 17 minutes into the match, Grêmio dos Canudos EC's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Mazza came free, but Frank Valladares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Pedro Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilian Loyola having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, Hernani Carioca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AE Araruamense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio dos Canudos EC the free kick. The supporters of Grêmio dos Canudos EC booed when AE Araruamense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernani Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandrinho Amorim struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Frank Valladares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AE Araruamense. Wilian Loyola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Pedro Pernambucano, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Waldemar Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldemar Motta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Wilian Loyola made a huge save. If Pedro Paulo Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The wind increased when Sandrinho Amorim made the kick off in the second half. Cássio Mazza succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 53rd playminute. In the 57th match minute, AE Araruamense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernani Carioca to maneuver through the defense. Grêmio dos Canudos EC's Chico Teixeira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 58th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for AE Araruamense. Waldemar Motta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Wilian Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, João Pedro Pernambucano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Frank Valladares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Amorim in the 71st minute of play. Sandrinho Amorim took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frank Valladares. AE Araruamense's Wilian Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldemar Motta in the 84th minute of play. When Cássio Mazza came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the AE Araruamense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cássio Mazza couldn't finish the play. Cássio Mazza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Valladares having to interfere. The AE Araruamense supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AE Araruamense would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
