Mean Machine's Hernani Lima was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 4th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 6th match minute, Mean Machine was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmir Vinhas to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that José Paulo de Sena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Válbson Mandrak was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Angelo Siqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 12 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sao Paulo! In the 23rd minute, José Paulo de Sena made a precise shot to the right of Válbson Mandrak. Mean Machine's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Válbson Mandrak didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Paulo de Sena went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

José Paulo de Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mean Machine's Válbson Mandrak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo de Sena in the 55th minute of play. When Angelo Siqueira came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Sao Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angelo Siqueira couldn't finish the play. 65 minutes into the match, Mean Machine's goal looked a bit too open when José Paulo de Sena came free, but Válbson Mandrak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Mean Machine's goalkeeper Válbson Mandrak had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Angelo Siqueira. 70 minutes into the game, one of Mean Machine:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. João Vítor de Amorim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Angelo Siqueira succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-5 in the 77th playminute. Mean Machine's Walmir Vinhas suffered a concussion after 81 minutes and had to leave the field. After 81 minutes, Delfim Zanette mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sao Paulo and the Mean Machine players grew even worse after the yellow card. Delfim Zanette hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Válbson Mandrak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo de Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Mean Machine's Geraldo Breckenfeld got a free kick in the 85th minute. If José Paulo de Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 98th minute, Hernani Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mean Machine's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernani Lima was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucas Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
