An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Mota in the 17th minute of play forced Caxambu's goalkeeper Charles Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Mazza hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute of the match, Doni Mazza tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Amadeu Albuquerque saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 43rd minute, Zézinho Mota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Caxambu's zone, Zézinho Mota stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Carneiro came out of the goal and Zézinho Mota tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 48th minute Zézinho Mota shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doni Mazza to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernandão Vasconcelos during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th minute, Samuel Amorim ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amadeu Albuquerque was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. If Zézinho Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Caxambu getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Cacá de Andrade hit a great ball. Zézinho Mota charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zézinho Mota the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 71st minute, Zézinho Mota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Saldanha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bruninho Martins hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. When Zézinho Mota came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Jordao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zézinho Mota couldn't finish the play. Nuno Saldanha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 94thth minute of the game Zézinho Mota who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caxambu's Charles Carneiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bruninho Martins charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruninho Martins the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 97th minute of the match Fernandão Vasconcelos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Charles Carneiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Caxambu could leave the field as winners, despite Jordao having more of the ball for most of the match.
