The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Caxambu's Deivid Dante got a free kick in the 4th minute. Doni Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 16 played minutes Mixquita FC got a freekick which was hit by Juninho Mello. Cacá de Andrade was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The supporters of Caxambu booed when Mixquita FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fábio Eger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Charles Carneiro was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. With his leg Vânderson Gaspar managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Caxambu's Samuel Amorim fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Mixquita FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samuel Amorim was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Luiz Fábio Eger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samuel Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vânderson Gaspar having to interfere. Vânderson Gaspar was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Doni Mazza showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 39 minute of play. Juninho Mello kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Vânderson Gaspar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Samuel Amorim in the 50th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Fábio Eger to make the kick off. Marquinhos Soeiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 56 minutes, Doni Mazza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caxambu and the Mixquita FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 56 played minutes Caxambu got a freekick which was hit by Doni Mazza. Vânderson Gaspar didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Caxambu's Samuel Amorim shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 3-0 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 75th minute, Juninho Mello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 78 minutes into the match, Caxambu's Doni Mazza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vânderson Gaspar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Samuel Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuel Amorim in the 94th minute of play forced Mixquita FC's goalkeeper Vânderson Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Samuel Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Vânderson Gaspar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Doni Mazza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 99th minute Samuel Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vânderson Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caxambu's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
