Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Juninho dos Santos started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Várzea do Tamanduateí's Nilton de Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juninho dos Santos in the 4th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Várzea do Tamanduateí's goal looked a bit too open when Lúcio Arantes came free, but Nilton de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nilton de Mendonça made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lúcio Arantes in the 21st minute. If Edgar de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Murillo Falcão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wágner Magalhães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Lucuri's Jonas Severo got a free kick in the 27th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 29th minute of the game. One of Lucuri:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Várzea do Tamanduateí:s goal. Jonas Severo hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Edgar de Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wágner Magalhães having to interfere. Lúcio Arantes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Nilton de Mendonça made a huge save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Murillo Falcão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Várzea do Tamanduateí were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Lucuri's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sílvio Luís Ferraz took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Artur Trevisan managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Artur Trevisan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wágner Magalhães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Lucuri's Wágner Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murillo Falcão in the 55th minute of play. A collision led to Lucuri getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. César Arantes hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Lucuri's zone, Edgar de Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wágner Magalhães came out of the goal and Edgar de Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Lucuri's César Arantes got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lucuri's goalkeeper Wágner Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 67 minutes into the match, Lucuri's goalkeeper Wágner Magalhães had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar de Andrade. After 69 minutes, Artur Trevisan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Várzea do Tamanduateí and the Lucuri players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 70th match minute, Várzea do Tamanduateí was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur Trevisan to maneuver through the defense. Lúcio Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lúcio Arantes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jonas Severo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nilton de Mendonça having to make a save. Lúcio Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nilton de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgar de Andrade got free with Wágner Magalhães in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
