After recieving a nice pass, Itapirapuan AD's Luís Azevedo tried to score from far away in the 17th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 21 minutes into the match, Vila Velha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Salgado came free, but Aníbal de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sílvio Tasso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Nóbrega, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Itapirapuan AD's Sílvio Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Magalhães in the 27th minute of play. Miguel Nóbrega might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sílvio Tasso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Nóbrega ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Nóbrega in the 31st minute of play forced Itapirapuan AD's goalkeeper Sílvio Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute, Reynaldo Mendonça ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sílvio Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Magalhães in the 42nd minute of play forced Itapirapuan AD's goalkeeper Sílvio Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aníbal de Salles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Raí Catarinense might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aníbal de Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raí Catarinense ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 84 minutes, Joaquim Salgado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itapirapuan AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Salgado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aníbal de Salles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Genílson Toledo went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. When Reynaldo Mendonça fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Velha FC's protests and gave Reynaldo Mendonça a yellow card for diving instead. Reynaldo Mendonça hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Vila Velha FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
