Eletro Power:s Márcio de Sousa showed great skill when he stopped Hélio Lira:s penalty. 29 minutes into the game, Hélio Lira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Márcio de Sousa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th minute Albertinho Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Márcio de Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diguinho Torres's late challenge caught a Eletro Power's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diguinho Torres helped the player get up and apologised. After 36 played minutes Martim got a freekick which was hit by Diguinho Torres. When Norberto Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Eletro Power's protests and gave Norberto Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albertinho Carneiro was the one to do the kick off. Eletro Power's Flávio da Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Martim booed when Eletro Power was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Norberto Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute Albertinho Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Márcio de Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Ruy Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Martim's supporters rose to their feet, but Ruy Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Márcio de Sousa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the match, Eletro Power's Flávio da Silveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benê Lago narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Martim's Benê Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kiko Braga in the 71st minute of play. Albertinho Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albertinho Carneiro in the 76th minute of play forced Eletro Power's goalkeeper Márcio de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Márcio de Sousa was a little too slow when Albertinho Carneiro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 0-3. Martim's Leopoldo Massa suffered a sore knee after 85 minutes and couldn't finish the game. During the 85th minute of the match Norberto Gomes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Norberto Gomes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Eletro Power's Norberto Gomes got a free kick in the 86th minute. In the 91st minute, Ruy Pena reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Márcio de Sousa. The goal made the score 0-4. Sidnei Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Márcio de Sousa having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Martim left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Eletro Power.
