The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of Campista:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Poli FC:s goal. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Poli FC. Geovânio Tavares stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Egīls Melkerts. 0-1. In the 13th minute, Olavo Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute there was a penalty for Poli FC. Rodrigo Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Campista's Egīls Melkerts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válbson Queiroz in the 23rd minute of play. Egīls Melkerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válbson Queiroz in the 33rd minute of the match. Rodrigo Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egīls Melkerts having to interfere. After 45 played minutes Campista got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Mazza. Egīls Melkerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Barral in the 47th minute of the match. After 47 minutes, Arí de Amorim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Campista and the Poli FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Arí de Amorim hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. Válbson Queiroz took the ball and in the 50 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Egīls Melkerts. Egīls Melkerts dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The Campista players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Poli FC were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Válbson Queiroz was the one to do the kick off. Poli FC's Guga Couto got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 61 minutes into the match, Ademir Mota had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alessandro Monteiro. Poli FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ademir Mota was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind Poli FC's goalkeeper Alessandro Monteiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 76 minutes, Ademir Mota managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Campista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ademir Mota was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Poli FC's Richard de Sena got a free kick in the 76th minute. Alessandro Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademir Mota, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Ademir Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Alessandro Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Egīls Melkerts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo Barral in the 83rd minute. Alfredinho Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Poli FC's Rodrigo Barral got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Campista's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Rodrigo Barral 94 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-4. The Poli FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
