After 6 played minutes Morro EC got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Queiroz. After 6 played minutes, Liverpool's Ian Cavalcante shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Enrique Melo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Liverpool reached it. If Ediberto Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute of the match Ian Cavalcante sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Enrique Melo skillfully saved the ball. The Liverpool fans' excitement grew in the 14th match minute when Liverpool's Nuno Lima looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Morro EC's Enrique Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Lima in the 17th minute of play. José Vítor Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Bueno having to interfere. After 29 minutes, Ediberto Catarinense made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Morro EC's Enrique Melo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ediberto Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique Melo having to interfere. The long shot by Nelsinho de Alcântara in the 40th minute really tested Benedito Bueno's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Enrique Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Liverpool's Ediberto Catarinense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Enrique Melo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 48 minutes into the match, Liverpool's goal looked a bit too open when Giovani Tasso came free, but Benedito Bueno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When Dudu Duarte fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Liverpool's protests and gave Dudu Duarte a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes Liverpool got a freekick which was hit by Dudu Duarte. José Vítor Loyola might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benedito Bueno. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Vítor Loyola ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nuno Lima got free with Enrique Melo in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benedito Bueno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Guilherme Gerber in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute José Vítor Loyola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedito Bueno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, José Vítor Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morro EC's supporters rose to their feet, but José Vítor Loyola was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benedito Bueno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Ezequiel Vasconcelos fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morro EC's protests and gave Ezequiel Vasconcelos a yellow card for diving instead. During the 87th minute of the match Dudu Duarte completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dudu Duarte a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 88th minute, Dudu Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benedito Bueno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Vítor Loyola, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Morro EC's Giovani Tasso got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Liverpool walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
