Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arthur da Mata was the one to do the kick off. Carlton Blends were furious when Enrique Alves was red carded, 55 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 54th minute, one of Carlton Blends:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Carlton Blends. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Vergílio in the 62nd minute of play forced Carlton Blends's goalkeeper Silvinho Baiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th match minute, Carlton Blends was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toninho Chaves to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manoel Guedes got free with Carlos Eduardo Guedes in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manoel Guedes struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Carlos Eduardo Guedes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carlton Blends. After 90 minutes, Acácio Mello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Japecanga SS and the Carlton Blends players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Japecanga SS booed when Carlton Blends was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toninho Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the game, Thomás Miranda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carlton Blends's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Japecanga SS the free kick.
