Corinthians Paulista's Tales Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Proença in the 21st minute of play. When Dida Lago fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Corinthians Paulista's protests and gave Dida Lago a yellow card for diving instead. In the 24th minute there was a penalty for Euriapolis SC. Tony Quaresma stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tales Mota. 1-1. 27 minutes into the match, Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Quaresma came free, but Tales Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 60 played minutes, Corinthians Paulista's Emanuel Veloso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tibúrcio Fernandez came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Corinthians Paulista reached it. After having played for 66 minutes, Luís Fabiano Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians Paulista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Fabiano Hoffmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
