Agnaldo Braga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Loyola having to interfere. In the 10th minute Adelino Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tales Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Corinthians Paulista's Luís Fabiano Hoffmann got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Real Sociedad booed when Corinthians Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Sergipano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Real Sociedad's Jano Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fabiano Hoffmann in the 38th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Adelino Luz made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Cássio Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tales Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute, Joaquim Freitas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
