The Bonzao SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Marco de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Joaquim Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cido Nogueira took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rubinho das Neves. Rubinho das Neves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 12th minute, João Francisco Monteiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cido Nogueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Rubinho das Neves made a huge save. Joaquim Santana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Joaquim Santana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco de Barros in the 23rd minute of the match. After 23 minutes of play, Bonzao SS's Marco de Barros made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquim Santana was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 31st minute João Francisco Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marco de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Santana having to interfere. João Francisco Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. São Paulo's Joaquim Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco de Barros in the 43rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Marco de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bonzao SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco de Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Santana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Francisco Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Délio Pombal made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco de Barros in the 51st minute of play forced São Paulo's goalkeeper Joaquim Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd minute Marco de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joaquim Santana didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 57th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Bonzao SS's Rubinho das Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cido Nogueira in the 60th minute of play. Joaquim Damião charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joaquim Damião the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 61 played minutes Bonzao SS got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Damião. São Paulo's Joaquim Santana proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo from getting a goal against them. Joaquim Santana was out of position in the 67 minute of play, and Marco de Barros capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Marco de Barros really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. After 74 minutes, Cido Nogueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the São Paulo and the Bonzao SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 75 minutes, João Francisco Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bonzao SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Francisco Monteiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 77 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Marco de Barros came free, but Joaquim Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If João Francisco Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Bonzao SS booed when São Paulo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wesley Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Francisco Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marco de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Santana having to interfere. When João Francisco Monteiro came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Bonzao SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Francisco Monteiro couldn't finish the play. Marco de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Santana having to interfere. In the 94th minute Dionísio Travassos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wesley Mendonça was shown his second yellow card after 94 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 95th match minute, São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wesley Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle sounded Bonzao SS left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than São Paulo.
