The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Manuel de Alcântara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Júlio Valladares in the 4th minute. 7 minutes into the game, Marcel Ferreira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Taubaté F.C. the free kick. A collision led to Corinthians getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Marcel Ferreira hit a great ball. If Geovani Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manuel de Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco de Amaral in the 11th minute of play. Aníbal Guerra's late challenge caught a Corinthians's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aníbal Guerra helped the player get up and apologised. 13 minutes into the game, one of Taubaté F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 14 minutes, Corinthians's Valdir Teles got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Manuel de Alcântara. Geovani Nunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 23 played minutes, Taubaté F.C.'s Hamílton Ferraz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Percy Duarte came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Taubaté F.C. reached it. When Caco de Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Corinthians fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco de Amaral couldn't finish the play. Manuel de Alcântara made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Júlio Valladares sent off a good shot on target. Manuel de Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco de Amaral in the 32nd minute of play. If Júlio Valladares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gernando Lara hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Corinthians's Caco de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Corinthians's Júlio Valladares in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Taubaté F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. Davi Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Júlio Valladares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Manuel de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Júlio Valladares took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Manuel de Alcântara to make any attempt to save it. Júlio Valladares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Manuel de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Caco de Amaral struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Manuel de Alcântara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Corinthians. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Caco de Amaral in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manuel de Alcântara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Allan Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Percy Duarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovani Nunes in the 69th minute of the match. Manuel de Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caco de Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th match minute, Taubaté F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Vítor Barbosa to maneuver through the defense. Manuel de Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco de Amaral in the 79th minute of play. Manuel de Alcântara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caco de Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Caco de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caco de Amaral kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. There was no doubt that Corinthians were the better team. Corinthians's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
