Tiago Romero scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicolas Soares, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicolas Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elias de Alcântara in the 8th minute of the match. Nicolas Soares came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo de Delft's Elias de Alcântara. But to his dismay, Elias de Alcântara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After a rather tough play, Botafogo de Delft's Ramón Moraes got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 16thth minute of the game Tiago Romero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio MZF's Nicolas Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Grêmio MZF's José Seco got a free kick in the 18th minute. Botafogo de Delft's Percy Palmeira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 19th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Grêmio MZF. The supporters of Botafogo de Delft booed when Grêmio MZF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias de Alcântara in the 21st minute of play forced Grêmio MZF's goalkeeper Nicolas Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Elias de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute Botafogo de Delft were awarded a corner. Percy Palmeira went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Zé Carlos Paranaense almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Grêmio MZF's Nicolas Soares did a great save. A collision led to Grêmio MZF getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. José Seco hit a great ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Tiago Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Botafogo de Delft's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiago Romero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicolas Soares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elias de Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. If Elias de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 38 minutes of play, Botafogo de Delft's Tiago Romero made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicolas Soares was left in no man's land by his defense there! 42 minutes into the match, Botafogo de Delft's goalkeeper José Vítor de Andrade had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jairo Barreto. Cacá Rodrigues hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Grêmio MZF's Abelardo Vieira got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Abelardo Vieira to strike the kick off in the second half. Tiago Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Nicolas Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Grêmio MZF getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Sílvio Berger hit a great ball. If Tiago Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Grêmio MZF defense, Elias de Alcântara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicolas Soares. The Grêmio MZF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicolas Soares should have stopped the shot. Tiago Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Soares having to interfere. After 81 played minutes Grêmio MZF got a freekick which was hit by José Seco. In the last second Nicolas Soares throw himself and got hold of the ball when Tiago Romero in the 82ndth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. If Tiago Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Botafogo de Delft's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
