Bebeto Ortiz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Ramón Tasso made a huge save. When Cláudio Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EC Cubatão's protests and gave Cláudio Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. Ramón Tasso acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 21st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jânio Braga. If Bebeto Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Donatello Rossi kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Bebeto Ortizs short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Ramón Tasso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 38 minutes into the game, Bebeto Ortiz lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Ramón Tasso. Nilson Prata struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Basílio de Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EC Cubatão. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Duda Macedo made a kick off. Bebeto Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basílio de Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nilson Prata went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bebeto Ortiz in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ramón Tasso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 67 minutes into the match, G E Rione's goalkeeper Basílio de Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adilson Borges. Ramón Tasso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bebeto Ortiz's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. In the 73rd match minute, G E Rione was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugênio Perez to maneuver through the defense. After 75 minutes of play EC Cubatão's Cláudio Moraes was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 74 minutes into the game, one of EC Cubatão:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ramón Tasso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donatello Rossi in the 80th minute of the match. Ramón Tasso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donatello Rossi in the 82nd minute of play. Bebeto Ortiz struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Ramón Tasso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for G E Rione. In the 87thth minute of the game Bebeto Ortiz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but EC Cubatão's Ramón Tasso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. G E Rione's attack was well implemented in the 91st minute, but when Bebeto Ortiz was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. The supporters of G E Rione booed when EC Cubatão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidnei Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donatello Rossi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ramón Tasso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Bebeto Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There was no doubt that G E Rione were the better team. G E Rione's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
