The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benjamin Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Lenílson Vasconcelos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the match, Rondinha AD's goalkeeper Lenílson Vasconcelos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chiquinho Mota. If Chiquinho Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ulisses Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th match minute, Inhapim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlinhos Brasil to maneuver through the defense. After 14 minutes, Gugu Ortiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inhapim and the Rondinha AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luisão Paraibano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Inhapim defense, Ulisses Souto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jarbas Maia. The Inhapim fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jarbas Maia should have stopped the shot. Jarbas Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisão Paraibano in the 21st minute of play. Jarbas Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisão Paraibano in the 23rd minute of the match. Laércio Sabóia hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. The supporters of Rondinha AD booed when Inhapim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Brodel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnaldo Magalhães took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jarbas Maia. Inhapim's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Ulisses Souto came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Rondinha AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulisses Souto couldn't finish the play. If Chiquinho Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rondinha AD's zone, Benjamin Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lenílson Vasconcelos came out of the goal and Benjamin Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chiquinho Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Lenílson Vasconcelos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benjamin Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Rondinha AD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 45th minute. Penalty! After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benjamin Mendes to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Laerte Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luisão Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Maia having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Rondinha AD's zone, Benjamin Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lenílson Vasconcelos came out of the goal and Benjamin Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 75 minutes into the match, Inhapim's goal looked a bit too open when Luisão Paraibano came free, but Jarbas Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 78th minute, Ulisses Souto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ulisses Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Inhapim's Jarbas Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisão Paraibano in the 84th minute of play. Lenílson Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benjamin Mendes in the 86th minute of the match. When Júlio Brodel came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Inhapim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Júlio Brodel couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Chiquinho Mota got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 96 minutes, Michel Tasso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rondinha AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Tasso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
