In the 3rd match minute, Formos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílton Valladares to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the match, Formos's goal looked a bit too open when Sidnei Seco came free, but Valério Félix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14thth minute of the game Amílton Valladares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Abadia's Yuri Maranhense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dida Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Formos's Valério Félix played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Seco in the 19th minute of play. Amílton Valladares had several of the Abadia's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 22 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Yuri Maranhense as he didn't even see the shot coming. The Abadia fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Abadia's Sérgio de Salles looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Yuri Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílton Valladares in the 34th minute of play. After having played for 35 minutes, Dida Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Formos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dida Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th minute of the match Formos got a corner. Abadia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eurico Torres ran over to the corner to take the kick. After having played for 41 minutes, Joaquim Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Formos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Pena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Abadia's goalkeeper Yuri Maranhense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Yuri Maranhense had great luck who in the 45thth minute grab hold of the ball when Amílton Valladares from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Abadia's zone, Dida Sampaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yuri Maranhense came out of the goal and Dida Sampaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidnei Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Yuri Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílton Valladares in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Abadia's goalkeeper Yuri Maranhense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Amílton Valladares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yuri Maranhense read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Adalberto Arce was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Abadia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Formos the free kick. 58 minutes into the game, one of Abadia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Eurico Torres walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. A collision led to Abadia getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Sidney Nascimento hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Dida Sampaio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Yuri Maranhense was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Abadia's goalkeeper Yuri Maranhense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dida Sampaio took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yuri Maranhense. Yuri Maranhense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 71st minute, Dida Sampaio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Abadia's goal looked a bit too open when Amílton Valladares came free, but Yuri Maranhense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yuri Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dida Sampaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 82nd minute, Amílton Valladares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dida Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yuri Maranhense having to interfere. Dida Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Abadia's goalkeeper Yuri Maranhense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Valério Félix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidnei Seco in the 90th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Amílton Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formos's supporters rose to their feet, but Amílton Valladares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yuri Maranhense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Yuri Maranhense didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dida Sampaio went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Dida Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Formos had played much better football throughout.
