The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, TFPN's goalkeeper Breno Ceresso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ademar Sena. Breno Ceresso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tião Santos in the 5th minute of the match. Fabrício Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betão Figueiredo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, TFPN's Renan do Vale got a free kick in the 12th minute. Breno Ceresso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodolfo Goiano in the 13th minute. Rodolfo Goiano's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Breno Ceresso - 1-0 was put on the score board in the 13th minute. If Betão Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dieguinho Pereira struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Fabrício Marinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TFPN. In the 24th minute of the match Germano Salgado shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Breno Ceresso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marquinhos Prata got free with Breno Ceresso in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fabrício Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betão Figueiredo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of TFPN booed when Contendas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 39 minutes, Betão Figueiredo made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Contendas FC's Fabrício Marinho tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Betão Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. TFPN's supporters rose to their feet, but Betão Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrício Marinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Cristiano Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the TFPN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristiano Lucas couldn't finish the play. 46 minutes into the match, TFPN's Betão Figueiredo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabrício Marinho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Betão Figueiredo in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabrício Marinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tião Santos to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Carlos Fernando Martins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. TFPN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Contendas FC the free kick. After 52 played minutes TFPN got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fernando Martins. Breno Ceresso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ademar Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ademar Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Betão Figueiredo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fabrício Marinho having to make a save. Breno Ceresso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Sena in the 69th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, TFPN's Carlos Fernando Martins ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fabrício Marinho. Fabrício Marinho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. 86 minutes into the game, Cléber Trancoso threw the ball into play from the sideline. TFPN's Cristiano Lucas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Marquinhos Prata hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Betão Figueiredo struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the match, Betão Figueiredo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fabrício Marinho. Contendas FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Betão Figueiredo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. The TFPN players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
