The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to FÊNIX F. C getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Breno Freitas hit a great ball. Mauro Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilson Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bebeto Trancoso during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FÊNIX F. C's Bebeto Trancoso got a free kick in the 12th minute. Claudinho Arósio was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 13th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 16th minute Ian Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elivélton Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Mondahy SS's Ian Cruz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elivélton Moraes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Elivélton Moraes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ian Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elivélton Moraes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Cruz in the 25th minute of play forced FÊNIX F. C's goalkeeper Elivélton Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elivélton Moraes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Celso Carioca in the 26th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson Queiroz in the 28th minute of play forced Mondahy SS's goalkeeper Mauro Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Celso Carioca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Elivélton Moraes made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Mondahy SS's zone, Cássio Duarte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mauro Carioca came out of the goal and Cássio Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ian Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cássio Duarte might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mauro Carioca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cássio Duarte ran back to his position shaking his head. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gilson Queiroz to strike the kick off in the second half. FÊNIX F. C's Elivélton Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Carlos Quadros in the 53rd minute of play. If Cássio Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mondahy SS's Ian Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 60th match minute, Mondahy SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Cruz to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st match minute, FÊNIX F. C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Rossi to maneuver through the defense. Celso Carioca spun around in front of the goal 63 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of FÊNIX F. C's goal. Celso Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Elivélton Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FÊNIX F. Elivélton Moraes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Celso Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd minute, Ian Cruz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mondahy SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. 86 minutes into the match, Mondahy SS's goalkeeper Mauro Carioca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cássio Duarte. When Celso Carioca came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Mondahy SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celso Carioca couldn't finish the play. Mondahy SS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
