Erik Lucas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 9 minutes into the game, Adhemar Correia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Erik Lucas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Adhemar Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adhemar Correia in the 19th minute of play forced Floripa F.C's goalkeeper Erik Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erik Lucas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adhemar Correia's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Erik Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adhemar Correia in the 30th minute of play forced Floripa F.C's goalkeeper Erik Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Adhemar Correia came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Esporte Clube Vitória fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adhemar Correia couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute Adhemar Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogério de Andrade in the 41st minute of play forced Floripa F.C's goalkeeper Erik Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Floripa F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar Correia came free, but Erik Lucas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Faustão Nóbrega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Lucas having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adhemar Correia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Floripa F.C got a freekick which was hit by Luisão Ramalho. 52 minutes into the match, Floripa F.C's goalkeeper Erik Lucas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Renatinho Oliveira. Erik Lucas came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Esporte Clube Vitória's Adhemar Correia. But to his dismay, Adhemar Correia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. When Adhemar Correia got free in front of the goal in the 64th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Erik Lucas was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Adhemar Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 70 minutes into the game, Luiz Eduardo Severo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Floripa F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esporte Clube Vitória the free kick. In the 71st match minute, Floripa F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Eduardo Severo to maneuver through the defense. Adhemar Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Erik Lucas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio Jacinto in the 75th minute of the match. When Adhemar Correia came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Esporte Clube Vitória fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adhemar Correia couldn't finish the play. 89 minutes into the match, Floripa F.C's goalkeeper Erik Lucas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adhemar Correia. In the 90th minute, Diego Guimarães ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erik Lucas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. When the final whistle sounded Esporte Clube Vitória left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Floripa F.C.
