In the 6th minute of the match Emílio Rodrigues sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tarcisio Almeida skillfully saved the ball. But to his dismay, Emanuel Teles quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 13th match minute, Trovão FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laércio Dracena to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho de Azevedo in the 16th minute of play forced E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Tarcisio Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Tarcisio Almeida proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO from getting a goal against them. Emanuel Teles's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tarcisio Almeida firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Claudinho de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Sydney Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's supporters rose to their feet, but Sydney Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eurico Paes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. José Carlos Fontes made in the 31st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Sydney Andrade. 34 minutes into the game, Claudinho de Azevedo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tarcisio Almeida. Claudinho de Azevedo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. With a little luck, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Tarcisio Almeida got control of the ball when Emanuel Teles tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emanuel Teles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 42ndth minute tested the skills of Tarcisio Almeida when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho de Azevedo in the 44th minute of play forced E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Tarcisio Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emanuel Teles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Válter Rezende to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Válter Rezende ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eurico Paes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Válter Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eurico Paes having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Edgar Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Válter Rezende in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Eurico Paes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 67th minute, José Carlos Fontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Tarcisio Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho de Azevedo in the 72nd minute of play. With a little luck, Trovão FC's Eurico Paes got control of the ball when Válter Rezende tried to sneak it across the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Claudinho de Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tarcisio Almeida. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudinho de Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Tarcisio Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Claudinho de Azevedo went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score.
