Corinthians Paulista was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Coelho to maneuver through the defense. In the 4th minute, Nestor Vidal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 6 played minutes, Abandonando o jogo's Fred Goiano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luís Fábio Quintal came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Abandonando o jogo reached it. The long shot by Kauan Santana in the 8th minute really tested Carlos de Queirós's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After some careless play in the S.C. Corinthians Paulista defense, Mauro Vianna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luís Fábio Quintal. The S.C. Corinthians Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Fábio Quintal should have stopped the shot. 28 minutes into the game, Germano Trancoso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abandonando o jogo the free kick. The supporters of Abandonando o jogo booed when S.C. Corinthians Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Trancoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Célio Aparecido sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos de Queirós narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tiago Gabriel Oliveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Paulão Reis got a free kick in the 37th minute. Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Vidal came free, but Luís Fábio Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Gustavo Alves in the 44th minute of play forced S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Fábio Quintal came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Abandonando o jogo's Luiz Gustavo Alves. But to his dismay, Luiz Gustavo Alves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Gustavo Alves was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Abandonando o jogo booed when S.C. Corinthians Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulão Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Abandonando o jogo's Cafu Rosado got a free kick in the 59th minute. After 63 played minutes Abandonando o jogo got a freekick which was hit by Cafu Rosado. In the 64th minute, Jarbas Furlan sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Abandonando o jogo's Carlos de Queirós didn't even have to move. In the 65th minute Germano Trancoso suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Mauro Vianna fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abandonando o jogo's protests and gave Mauro Vianna a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th minute, Mauro Vianna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Célio Aparecido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Carlos de Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Célio Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Célio Aparecido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Abandonando o jogo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
