Caiana's Ronaldão Correia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Caiana from getting a goal against them. In the 6th minute Nildo Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Furlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Carlos Furlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Monteiro in the 19th minute of the match. Nildo Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Frank Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nildo Secco in the 29th minute of play forced Guaravera's goalkeeper João Carlos Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Guaravera's Frank Simão dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Caiana's Nildo Secco got a free kick in the 38th minute. Fausto Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Simão made a kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Nildo Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caiana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nildo Secco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 56th minute Fausto Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Furlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caiana's Nildo Secco got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fausto Monteiro in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Carlos Furlan saved Guaravera from getting behind. Fausto Monteiro struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. João Carlos Furlan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caiana. In the 71stth minute of the game Fausto Monteiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guaravera's João Carlos Furlan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Genílson Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the match, Guaravera's goal looked a bit too open when Fausto Monteiro came free, but João Carlos Furlan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fausto Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fausto Monteiro in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Carlos Furlan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 88th minute, Nildo Secco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 89 played minutes Guaravera got a freekick which was hit by Gilmar Vianna. After 92 minutes, Gilmar Vianna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guaravera and the Caiana players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 98 minutes, Serginho Amaral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Guaravera had won after a very even match.
