After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Caiana! Fellipe Pitta shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Jefferson Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Ronaldão Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th match minute, Poxoreu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guto Quadros to maneuver through the defense. If Fausto Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 18 played minutes Poxoreu got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Queiroz. Caiana's Ramón Prestes broke free in the 19th minute of the match and struck a powerful long shot that almost became a goal, but instead the ball went outside the right post. An obvious chance of a goal. Jefferson Cerezo scored 0-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldão Correia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jaime Queiroz hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. If Nildo Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guto Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. A collision led to Poxoreu getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jailson Recife hit a great ball. Ramón Prestes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 34th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Poxoreu's zone, Fausto Monteiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juarês Araújo came out of the goal and Fausto Monteiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nildo Secco got free with Juarês Araújo in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Poxoreu getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Jaime Queiroz hit a great ball. Jefferson Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Ronaldão Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Poxoreu were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fausto Monteiro made a kick off. Nildo Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 55 minutes into the game, Fausto Monteiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Juarês Araújo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Juarês Araújo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fausto Monteiro in the 62nd minute of play. Nildo Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juarês Araújo having to interfere. 81 minutes into the match, Caiana's Nildo Secco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juarês Araújo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. João Pedro Machado hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. 86 minutes into the match, Poxoreu's goal looked a bit too open when Nildo Secco came free, but Juarês Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nildo Secco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juarês Araújo was relentless in the 88th minute of the game.
