Malacacheta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sydney Bastos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 7 minutes into the match, Malacacheta's goalkeeper Antônio Reis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lenílson Pires. A collision led to Malacacheta getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Erasmo Paiva hit a great ball. Antônio Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sydney Bastos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute Vivaldo Perez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, VILA NOVA F.C.'s Lenílson Pires nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Antônio Reis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Antônio Reis made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Lenílson Pires sent off a good shot on target. 18 minutes into the match, Malacacheta's goal looked a bit too open when Vivaldo Perez came free, but Antônio Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tony Guedes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the game, Valdir Xavier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. VILA NOVA F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Malacacheta the free kick. After 22 played minutes VILA NOVA F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Valdir Xavier. Olavo de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy Pontes in the 24th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Valdir Xavier dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Antônio Reis, 3-0. VILA NOVA F.C.'s Olavo de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tony Guedes in the 31st minute of play. In the 37th minute Percy Pontes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo de Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 minutes, Tony Guedes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malacacheta and the VILA NOVA F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 41st minute, Tony Guedes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The attack was good, but when Percy Pontes in the 43rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 45 minutes into the game, Vito Barreto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. VILA NOVA F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Malacacheta the free kick. Vito Barreto hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

In the 53rd minute, Percy Pontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th minute, Percy Pontes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Malacacheta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. After 62 minutes, Percy Pontes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malacacheta and the VILA NOVA F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Olavo de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percy Pontes in the 66th minute of the match. Antônio Reis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenílson Pires in the 74th minute of the match. Olavo de Andrade made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tony Guedes in the 75th minute. Vivaldo Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the match, Malacacheta's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Pires came free, but Antônio Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Malacacheta were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
