Luiz Eger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Saldanha in the 26th minute of play. Valério Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Augusto Pernambucano to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Edu Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldo Mattos scored 0-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Eger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A very good chance. Jeremias Catarinense took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luizinho Pontes. Fluminense's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 94th minute Renatinho Marques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fluminense would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
