Maicon Meira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diguinho Aguiar, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. After a rather tough play, Sapeacu's Ediberto Fonseca got a free kick in the 11th minute. Vitório de Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Gilvan Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diguinho Aguiar in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maicon Meira saved Sapeacu from getting behind. Flávio Paranaense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Gilvan Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Flávio Paranaense in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan Fontes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 23 played minutes Sapeacu got a freekick which was hit by Ediberto Fonseca. Paulo Aparecido, 23 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vitório de Queirós in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan Fontes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Paulo José Tróia kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitório de Queirós in the 37th minute of play forced Parana Clube's goalkeeper Gilvan Fontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the game, Diego Sousa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sapeacu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Parana Clube the free kick. Virgílio Favoretto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Maicon Meira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diguinho Aguiar in the 42nd minute of play forced Sapeacu's goalkeeper Maicon Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hermínio Carneiro made a great header on Sapeacu's corner, it was just that Parana Clube's Gilvan Fontes managed to reach the ball for a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diguinho Aguiar to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Flávio Paranaense in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilvan Fontes saved Parana Clube from getting behind. The Sapeacu fans' excitement grew in the 53rd match minute when Sapeacu's Flávio Paranaense looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience was convinced that Flávio Paranaense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilvan Fontes was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. In the 63rd minute, Fernandinho Corrêa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gilvan Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo José Tróia in the 69th minute of play. Vitório de Queirós could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Gilvan Fontes made a huge save. Maicon Meira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Diguinho Aguiar's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Diguinho Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maicon Meira having to interfere. If Flávio Paranaense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sapeacu eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
