Gilmar Prado made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Luís Paulo Pitta sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Mané Vasconcelos put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Gilmar Prado. After 46 minutes, Mané Vasconcelos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Velanie FC and the Lençoense players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 46 played minutes Velanie FC got a freekick which was hit by Mané Vasconcelos. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

After recieving a nice pass, Velanie FC's Luís Paulo Pitta tried to score from far away in the 87th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Lençoense's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
