The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lauro Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diamantino Nogueira in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute, Marco Mineiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vargedo AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Lauro Prestes made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Geovânio Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. In the 12th minute of the match Ernani Arósio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joel Matos skillfully saved the ball. Lauro Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldemar Damião in the 19th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Marco Mineiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vargedo AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco Mineiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Matos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marco Mineiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joel Matos having to make a save. Roncado's Joel Matos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Mineiro in the 34th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Waldemar Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot. Waldemar Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Lauro Prestes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marquinhos de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marco Mineiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joel Matos having to make a save. Joel Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marquinhos de Alcântara in the 46th minute of the match. Richard Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Joel Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Waldemar Damião was the one to do the kick off. In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Roncado. Belchior Matos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Lauro Prestes. 1-1. After 69 played minutes Roncado got a freekick which was hit by Wiliam Saldanha. In the 80th minute, Belchior Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was beautiful to see Vargedo AD's Emanuel Tasso in action when he in the 82nd minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! In the 86th minute of the match Cléber Sarmento sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lauro Prestes skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Vargedo AD getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Ernani Arósio hit a great ball. Lauro Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovânio Azevedo in the 95th minute of the match. If Marquinhos de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
