Ernani Meireles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Paulinho Mumbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Concao SS's Eliseu Pontes came free and shot a quick shot against goal 8 minutes in the game, fortunately Tostão Loyola had problems saving as it came toward the left post. A collision led to Canavani getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Gino da Mata hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the match, Concao SS's Eliseu Pontes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tostão Loyola narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eliseu Pontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eliseu Pontes took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tostão Loyola. Tostão Loyola dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Canavani's Tostão Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Matos in the 24th minute of play. Ernani Meireles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulinho Mumbach having to interfere. Paulinho Mumbach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernani Meireles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 35 played minutes Concao SS got a freekick which was hit by Wilton Marques. After 36 played minutes, Canavani's Emanuel Paranaense shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Paulinho Mumbach came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Canavani reached it. In the 40th minute, Geovânio Moura hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulinho Mumbach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Augusto Marquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 48th minute Ernani Meireles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulinho Mumbach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

After 53 played minutes Canavani got a freekick which was hit by Cléberson Toscano. Mário Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tostão Loyola having to interfere. After some careless play in the Canavani defense, Eliseu Pontes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tostão Loyola. The Canavani fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tostão Loyola should have stopped the shot. Ernani Meireles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulinho Mumbach having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Concao SS's Wilton Marques got a free kick in the 66th minute. 67 minutes into the match, Canavani's Ernani Meireles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulinho Mumbach narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 70 minutes, Ernani Meireles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canavani's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernani Meireles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Concao SS's zone, Ernani Meireles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulinho Mumbach came out of the goal and Ernani Meireles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulinho Mumbach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernani Meireles, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. The supporters of Canavani booed when Concao SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chicão das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernani Meireles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Paulinho Mumbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 87th minute of the match, José Augusto Marquez got a very nice opportunity to score, but Paulinho Mumbach was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Canavani's Tostão Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseu Pontes in the 92nd minute of play. Tostão Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mário Matos in the 93rd minute of play. Mário Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tostão Loyola having to interfere. Canavani's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
