Valdir do Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olavo Damião in the 25th minute of play. Olavo Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Valdir do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clemente Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Délio Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Hoffmann in the 44th minute of play forced Jaciara's goalkeeper Afonsinho Gerber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Clemente Rezende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. Jaciara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio de Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Célio de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olavo Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Valdir do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Valdir do Nascimento managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Jaciara's Célio de Azevedo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Valdir do Nascimento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olavo Damião's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. 85 minutes into the match, Esterao SS's goalkeeper Valdir do Nascimento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Célio de Azevedo. André Luís Hoffmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonsinho Gerber having to interfere. The Jaciara supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Jaciara would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
