When Nilson Dante came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Canela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nilson Dante couldn't finish the play. After 25 minutes, Marcelinho Meireles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canela and the Marumbe EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Canela's Marcelinho Meireles got a free kick in the 25th minute. Marumbe EC's Oséas Vinhas couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 26th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Canela. When Gilmar Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Marumbe EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilmar Lopes couldn't finish the play. After having played for 35 minutes, Fabiano Branco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabiano Branco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marumbe EC's Zézinho Xavier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Dante in the 37th minute of play. Cafu Arantes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zézinho Xavier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Gilmar Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marumbe EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilmar Lopes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Felipe Valadares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kléberson Mumbach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The wind increased when Cafu Arantes made the kick off in the second half. When Cafu Arantes came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Canela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cafu Arantes couldn't finish the play. Felipe Valadares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kléberson Mumbach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes in the game, Gilmar Lopes dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Vitório Amaral hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Kléberson Mumbach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Canela getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Marcelinho Meireles hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zacarias Pena during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 64 played minutes Canela got a freekick which was hit by Zacarias Pena. Marumbe EC's Gilmar Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kléberson Mumbach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Felipe Valadares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 76 minutes in the game, Cafu Arantes fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Zézinho Xavier having to interfere. The referee ignored Canela's protests and gave Fabiano Branco a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Canela getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Fabiano Branco hit a great ball. The supporters of Marumbe EC booed when Canela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelinho Meireles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Canela's Felipe Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilmar Lopes in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléberson Mumbach in the 94th minute of play forced Canela's goalkeeper Felipe Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 96 minutes, Gilmar Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marumbe EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilmar Lopes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
