Sapezal SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cairary the free kick. A collision led to Sapezal SS getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Luís Fabiano Pires hit a great ball. David Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egídio Paes having to interfere. In the 25th match minute, Cairary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafinha Miranda to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Alberto Berger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Egídio Paes made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto Berger got free with Egídio Paes in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osmar Paranaense in the 31st minute of play forced Sapezal SS's goalkeeper Ediberto Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vágner Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vágner Senna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cairary booed when Sapezal SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Egídio Paes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Meirelles in the 36th minute of play. Ediberto Loyola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osmar Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Luís Fabiano Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when David Meirelles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Egídio Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling David Meirelles in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Egídio Paes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 66thth minute of the game David Meirelles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cairary's Egídio Paes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Egídio Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Carlos Alberto Berger took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Egídio Paes. Egídio Paes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Toninho Secco hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Osmar Paranaense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Loyola having to interfere. Pedro Augusto Carvalho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ediberto Loyola came out and tried to block the shot, but Pedro Augusto Carvalho slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 90th minute. David Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
